Will Swenson, Jarrod Spector, and More Slated for Barrington Stage Season

The summer destination announces casting for its 2016 productions.

Casting has been announced for Barrington Stage Company's 2016 summer season.

The Pirates of Penzance, directed by John Rando and choreographed by Joshua Bergasse, will feature Tony nominee Will Swenson (Les Misérables) and Scarlett Strallen (A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder) as the Pirate King and Mabel, alongside Kyle Dean Massey as Frederic, David Garrison as the Major General, Jane Carr as Ruth, and Phillip Boykin as Samuel. The production of Gilbert and Sullivan's classic operetta is set to run from July 15-August 13 on the theater's Mainstage.

The world premiere of Presto Change-O, directed by Marc Bruni, has also added Tony Award winner Michael Rupert (On the Town) and Tony Award nominee Jarrod Spector (Beautiful — The Carole King Musical) to its cast, alongside Jenni Barber, Barbara Walsh, Lenny Wolpe, and Bob Walton. The new musical is written by composer Joel Waggoner (Carolina Breeze) and librettist Eric Price (Hello Out There) and will run from May 18-June 11 on the St. Germain stage.

Finally, Annie Golden will play herself in the world premiere of Broadway Bounty Hunter, also coming to the St. Germain stage. The musical features a score by Joe Iconis and a book by Iconis and his frequent collaborators Lance Rubin and Jason 'SweetTooth' Williams, and will also star Jeff McCarthy and Badia Farha. Performances will run from August 12-September 3.

Additionally, Joshua Castille (Spring Awakening) will star in Tribes, Tamara Tune will appear in American Son, Debra Jo Rupp will lead Kimberly Akimbo, and Rupp and Mark H. Dold will appear in Love Letters.
