Shakespeare & Company in Lenox, Massachusetts, has announced complete casting for its upcoming production of Intimate Apparel, written by two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage (Sweat). Directed by Daniela Varon, performances will run in the Elayne P. Bernstein Theatre from July 20-August 13.

The play is described as follows: "In Intimate Apparel, Nottage explores the strength of the human spirit through the story of Esther, an African-American seamstress in Manhattan in 1905, when social and class lines were distinctly drawn. A letter arrives, romance and betrayal follow, and six lives are forever changed."

The cast stars Nehassaiu deGannes as Esther, Christianna Nelson as Mrs. Van Buren, Tommy Schrider as Mr. Marks, Medina Senghore as Mayme, Lee Edward Colston II as George, and MaConnia Chesser as Mrs. Dickson.

The creative team includes set design by Sandra Goldmark, lighting design by James W. Bilnoski, costume design by Molly Trainer, sound design by Christopher Peifer, projection design by Natalie Johnsonius Neubert, and compositions/music direction by Scott Killian. Tori Sheehan serves as stage manager.

Intimate Apparel had its world premiere at Center Stage in Baltimore in 2003 and opened off-Broadway at the Roundabout Theatre Company in 2004. The drama earned the 2004 Steinberg New Play Award, the New York Drama Critics’ Circle Award, and the Outer Critics Circle Award.
