David Wilson Barnes, Jennifer Westfeldt, and More Behind the News Desk in The Power of Duff
Stephen Belber's The Power of Duff celebrates its official opening tomorrow, October 23, at the Huntington Theatre Company's Calderwood Pavilion at the Boston Center for the Arts.
David Wilson Barnes (You Don't Know Jack) and Tony nominee Jennifer Westfeldt (Friends With Kids) costar as television news anchors Charlie Duff and Sue Raspell. The play explores the hotly debated subjects of religion, spirituality, and journalistic integrity as Charlie begins offering his audiences a nightly prayer. Though these prayers inspire acts of good among his viewers, Sue, along with several of her coworkers, finds the new tradition both unprofessional and unethical.
Also featured in the cast are Amy Pietz (The Office) as Charlie's ex-wife, Lisa; Noah Galvin (Burnt Part Boys) as Charlie's estranged son, Ricky; Joe Paulik (Twelfth Night) as field reporter Ron Kirkpatrick; Russell G. Jones (Ruined) as Joseph Andango; Ben Cole (One Slight Hitch) as news director Scott Zoellner; and Brendan Griffin (Clybourne Park) as sportscaster John Ebbs. Huntington Artistic Director Peter DuBois helms the production.
