Company, Ragtime, and More Planned for Barrington Stage Company's 2017 Season

The season will kick off with ”Kunstler”, starring Broadway’s Jeff McCarthy.

Barrington Stage Company has announced plans for its 2017 season, which will kick off in May 2017.

The 2017 season will open with Kunstler (May 18-June 10) by Jefferson Award winner and Emmy Award nominee Jeffrey Sweet, directed by Meagen Fay and starring Jeff McCarthy (Chicago). Next up will be a a production of The Birds (June 15-July 8) by Conor McPherson, directed by BSC Artistic Director Julianne Boyd. Then the company will present a new production of Ragtime (June 21-July 15), directed by Joe Calarco, with a book by Terrence McNally, lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, and music by Stephen Flaherty. Tony Award winner Alan Ayckbourn's comedy Taking Steps (July 20-August 5) will be staged by Tony Award nominated director Sam Buntrock.

The season will continue with This (August 3-August 27) by Obie Award winner Melissa James Gibson and directed by Christopher Innvar and Company (August 10-September 2), with a book by George Furth and music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, choreographed by Jeffrey Page and directed by Julianne Boyd. Gaslight (Angel Street) (October 4-October 22) by Patrick Hamilton will close out the season.

Co-founded in 1995 by Artistic Director Julianne Boyd, Barrington Stage Company is a professional Equity regional theater. It has a three-fold mission: "to present top-notch, compelling work; to develop new plays and musicals; and to find fresh, bold ways of bringing new audiences into the theatre—especially young people."
