Significant Other and The Bridges of Madison County Join New SpeakEasy Season

New York favorites will make their New England premiere.

Boston's SpeakEasy Stage Company has announced its 2016-17 season lineup.

Joshua Harmon's Significant Other will open the season, running from September 10-October 8. Directed by Paul Daigneault, the New England premiere will feature Greg Maraio and Kathy St. George. The play had its world premiere in June 2015 at Roundabout Theatre Company's Laura Pels Theatre.

The New England premiere of The Scottsboro Boys will follow, running from October 22-November 26. The show features a score by John Kander and Fred Ebb, and a book by David Thompson. Paul Daigneault will direct the production, featuring Maurice Emmanuel Parent in the cast.

Robert Askins' Tony-nominated dark comedy Hand to God will make its New England premiere with a run from January 7-February 4, 2017. Directed by David R. Gammons, the cast will feature Marianna Bassham.

Next up will be the New England premiere of Heidi Schreck's Grand Concourse, directed by Bridget Kathleen O’Leary. Performances will run from March 11-April 8, 2017, featuring Melinda Lopez and Thomas Derrah in the cast.

The New England premiere of The Bridges of Madison County, directed by M. Bevin O'Gara and running from May 6-June 3, 2017, will close out the season. Featuring a Tony-winning score by Jason Robert Brown and a book by Marsha Norman, the show is based on the novel by Robert James Waller. Jennifer Ellis and Kerry A. Dowling join the cast.
