Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike Comes to Boston's Huntington Theatre Company

Christopher Durang’s Tony-winning comedy stars Broadway vet Martin Moran.

After a Tony-winning run on Broadway, Christopher Durang's Chekhovian dark comedy Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike comes to Boston's Huntington Theatre Company through February 1. Director Jessica Stone based her staging on the original Broadway work of late former Huntington Artistic Director Nicholas Martin.

In Durang's play, brother and sister Vanya and Sonia are visited in their Bucks County home by their glamorous movie-star sister, Masha, and her new boy toy, Spike, who promptly throw everyone's lives into complete disarray.

Stone's production originated at San Diego's Old Globe Theatre in May 2014 and began performances at the Huntington on January 2. The company is led by Martin Moran (Vanya), Marcia DeBonis (Sonia), Candy Buckley (Masha), and Tyler Lansing Weaks (Spike), with Haneefah Wood (Cassandra) and Allison Layman (Nina). It utilizes original production elements including David Korins' Broadway set design.
