Hamilton Has a Big Night, Winning 11 Tony Awards

The results of the 2016 Tony Awards are in, and as expected, Hamilton walked away from the Beacon Theatre with an impressive 11 awards, including the evening's biggest prize, Best Musical. The show's creator Lin-Manuel Miranda took home two prizes himself for both Book and Score, while his costar Leslie Odom Jr. bested him in the Leading Actor category. Renée Elise Goldsberry and Daveed Diggs also added to the musical's total with wins for their featured performances.

Best Play recipient The Humans, written by Stephen Karam, also had a strong showing with four wins, including two performance awards for its featured actors Reed Birney and Jayne Houdyshell. David Zinn earned the fourth of the production's awards for Scenic Design of a Play.
