Bobby Conte Thornton, Ariana DeBose, and the Bronx Tale Cast in the Recording Studio

The musical is based on Chazz Palminteri’s acclaimed solo show and subsequent 1993 film.

The new Broadway musical A Bronx Tale entered the studio this week to recorded the show's original cast album. Under the direction of four-time Tony winner Jerry Zaks and Oscar winner Robert De Niro, the show, written by Chazz Palminteri, is based on his acclaimed solo show and subsequent 1993 film of the same name.

A Bronx Tale is set against the backdrop of racial strife and organized crime in the 1960s as an Italian-American teenager must choose between the father who raised him and the mob-boss father figure who fascinates him. The production, which premiered in February at Paper Mill Playhouse, opened at Broadway's Longacre Theatre on December 1.

The 30-member cast stars Tony Award nominee Nick Cordero as Sonny, Richard H. Blake as Lorenzo, Bobby Conte Thornton as Calogero, Ariana DeBose as Jane, Lucia Giannetta as Rosina, Bradley Gibson as Tyrone, and Hudson Loverro as Young Calogero.

The production features a book by Palminteri, music by Tony and Oscar winner Alan Menken, lyrics by Glenn Slater, and choreography by Sergio Trujillo.
