Baking buddies Betsy Wolfe (Waitress) and Carolee Carmello (Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street) met Thursday, June 29, at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre to trade pies from their respective shows. Carmello presented Wolfe with a plate of pie and mash, Sweeney Todd's pre-show audience treat, in exchange for Wolfe's own Waitress-themed special confection.

Waitress is inspired by Adrienne Shelley's 2007 motion picture and features songs by Sara Bareilles, a book by Jessie Nelson, and direction by Diane Paulus. The production opened April 24, 2016, and earned four Tony nominations, including Best Original Score Written for the Theatre.

The Tooting Arts Club production of Sweeney Todd features music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, a book by Hugh Wheeler, and is directed by Bill Buckhurst. The production originated at Harrington's Pie and Mash Shop in London before transferring to the Barrow Street Theatre earlier this year.
