Alex Timbers Parts Ways With Disney as Director of Frozen Stage Musical

Tony Award nominee Alex Timbers (Rocky), who had previously been announced as director for Disney's upcoming stage adaptation of the movie Frozen, has now parted ways with the production, according to Variety. No announcement has so far been made regarding who will take over as the project's director.
"Alex Timbers is one of the most exciting and innovative theater directors I know…Though we have chosen to go in another direction with this role, we are committed to seeing Frozen's tremendous theatrical potential brought to life onstage," said Thomas Schumacher, president and producer of Disney Theatrical Productions, in a statement.
The Frozen musical is scheduled to premiere at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts in August 2017 before a Broadway arrival in the spring of 2018.
As previously announced, Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez (The Book of Mormon, Avenue Q), who received Oscars for their Frozen tune "Let It Go," will pen the show's full score, with the film's screenwriter and codirector Jennifer Lee penning the book.
The creative team will also be made up of Disney stage veterans Bob Crowley (set and costume design), Natasha Katz (lighting design), and Peter Hylenski (sound design). Stephen Oremus will serve as musical director.
It has been rumored that Patti Murin (Lysistrata Jones) will take on the role of Anna with Betsy Wolfe (Falsettos) playing Elsa, although no casting has been officially announced so far.
