Andy Karl Honored With Groundhog Day Painting at Tony's di Napoli Restaurant

Groundhog Day star Andy Karl was honored yesterday, August 17, when Tony's di Napoli Restaurant unveiled a painting of his Groundhog Day character Phil Connors for the restaurant's Broadway Wall of Fame. Copies of the painting were signed by Karl to be auctioned off at a future event to benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

Groundhog Day features a score by Matilda composer Tim Minchin and direction by Matilda's Matthew Warchus, with original screenwriter Danny Rubin providing the book. The story follows disgruntled weatherman Phil Connors who finds himself stuck in small-town America reliving the same day over and over and over again. Performances continue through September 17 at the August Wilson Theatre.
