Broadway Shockers 2016: Gilmore Girls Reboot Premieres a Jeanine Tesori Musical

Sutton Foster and Christian Borle lead the cast of ”Stars Hollow The Musical”.

We were all excited about the resurrection of Gilmore Girls, which came back into our lives via Netflix this past November. But musical-theater fans got an extra treat with the return to Stars Hollow — and we're not just talking about the guest appearances from Broadway favorites Kerry Butler, Sutton Foster, and Christian Borle.

Jeanine Tesori — the Tony-winning scribe behind Fun Home, Caroline, or Change, and Shrek — literally composed a brand-new musical just for the four-part series. And we're not talking eight bars of a parody tune. We're talking multiple songs, several minutes each, ranging from a pilgrim number to a hip-hop tribute to Hamilton (plus an encore of ABBA's "Waterloo"). Needless to say, Stars Hollow the Musical was a Broadway shocker we were shocked to learn we desperately needed .
