Chuck Cooper Completes the Broadway Cast of The Cherry Orchard

Roundabout Theatre Company has finished casting its Chekhov revival.

Roundabout Theatre Company has announced that Tony Award winner Chuck Cooper will complete the cast of its upcoming revival of Anton Chekhov's The Cherry Orchard at the American Airlines Theatre.

Cooper will perform the role of Pischik, joining a cast that includes Oscar nominee Diane Lane (Ranevskaya), Tavi Gevinson (Anya), Tony winner John Glover (Gaev), two-time Drama Desk Award winner Celia Keenan-Bolger (Varya), Harold Perrineau (Lopakhin), and Tony winner Joel Grey (Firs). The production will also feature Tina Benko, Susannah Flood, Maurice Jones, Quinn Mattfeld, Aaron Clifton Moten, Peter Bradbury, Philip Kerr, Lise Bruneau, Jacqueline Jarrold, Ian Lassiter, and Carl Hendrick Louis.

Cooper was last seen on Broadway in the 2015 musical Amazing Grace. His other Broadway credits include Act One, Romeo and Juliet, Finian's Rainbow, Lennon, Caroline, Or Change, Chicago, Getting Away With Murder, Passion, Someone Who'll Watch Over Me, Rumors, Amen Corner, and The Life, for which he won the Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical.

Directed by Simon Godwin, the Roundabout Theatre Company production will feature a script adapted by Tony winner Stephen Karam (The Humans). Performances begin at the American Airlines Theatre on September 15 in advance of an October 16 opening.
