Jenn Colella and Chad Kimball-Led Come From Away Lands Home for Broadway Premiere

The production will begin New York performances in February 2017.

The new musical Come From Away, currently playing an extended run at Washington, D.C.'s Ford's Theatre has extended its run through October 16, will open at Broadway's Schoenfeld Theatre on March 12, 2017. Previews will begin February 18.

Featuring a book, music, and lyrics by Irene Sankoff and David Hein, Come From Away is directed by Tony nominee Christopher Ashley (Memphis) and choreographed by Tony nominee Kelly Devine (Rocky). Set against the backdrop of the tragic events of September 11, 2001, the show follows what happens when 38 planes and 6,579 passengers were forced to land in Gander, Newfoundland, doubling the population of "one small town on the edge of the world."

Following the run at Ford's Theatre, the production will travel to Gander, Newfoundland, for two special benefit concert performances on October 29. The show will then continue on to Toronto's Royal Alexandra Theatre, where it will play from November 15-January 8, 2017.

The Broadway cast, many of whom appeared in the 2015 La Jolla Playhouse and Seattle Repertory Theatre productions of the musical, includes Chad Kimball (Memphis), Jenn Colella (If/Then), Kendra Kassebaum (Wicked), Geno Carr (Allegiance), Joel Hatch (Annie), Rodney Hicks (The Scottsboro Boys), Lee MacDougall (The Wizard of Oz), Caesar Samayoa (Sister Act), Q. Smith (Mary Poppins), Sharon Wheatley (Avenue Q), Astrid Van Wieren (Mamma Mia!), Petrina Bromley (As You Like It), Josh Breckenridge (The Scottsboro Boys), Susan Dunstan (The Lion King), Tamika Lawrence (If/Then), and Tony LePage (Rock of Ages).

The prodution has music supervision by Ian Eisendrath, scenic design by Beowulf Boritt, costume design by Toni-Leslie James, lighting design by tHowell Binkley, sound design by Gareth Owen, orchestrations by August Eriksmoen, and music arrangements by Ian Eisendrath.
