Broadway's Tony-winning Dear Evan Hansen will become a young adult novel written by Val Emmich. Little, Brown Books for Young Readers will release Dear Evan Hansen: The Novel on October 9.

With a Tony-winning score by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, and a Tony-winning book by Steven Levenson, Dear Evan Hansen is described as follows: "A letter that was never meant to be seen, a lie that was never meant to be told, a life he never dreamed he could have. Evan Hansen is about to get the one thing he's always wanted: a chance to finally fit in."

Created in collaboration with Levenson, Pasek, and Paul, Emmich's novel will flesh out scenes and characters that are only in the musical's periphery using the original script as well as previous drafts and cut materials.

The authors will make their first book-industry appearance for Dear Evan Hansen: The Novel on May 31 at BookExpo, with their first public appearance for the book on June 3 at BookCon.
