Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong'o will take Broadway in 2016. The actress, who is currently making her New York stage debut in Danai Gurira's Eclipsed, will bring the play to Broadway's John Golden Theatre in February. Eclipsed will conclude its run at the Public on November 29. Broadway performances will start up February 23, with an opening night planned for March 6. The Golden Theatre is currently home to the Broadway revival of The Gin Game, which is playing a run scheduled through January 10.

Directed by Obie Award winner Liesl Tommy, Eclipsed is a look at the Liberian Civil War from the perspective of the captive wives of a Liberian rebel officer. With the arrival of a new woman who can read, and the return of an old one who can kill, their possibilities are quickly transformed. Joining Nyong'o in the cast are Pascale Armand, Akosua Busia, Zainab Jah, and Saycon Sengbloh. Nyong'o won an Oscar for her performance in 12 Years a Slave. A 17-week limited run is planned for Broadway with the full cast of the Public's mounting expected to transfer with Nyong'o.
