Tony nominee Euan Morton will join the Broadway cast of Hamilton as King George III beginning on July 28, coming to the company direct from the national tour of Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Morton will replace Brian d'Arcy James, who reprised his performance as King George III beginning April 14 after originating the role off-Broadway at the Public Theater in 2015.

With book, music, and lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda, direction by Thomas Kail, choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler, and music direction and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire, Hamilton is based on Ron Chernow's biography of founding father Alexander Hamilton. The musical tells the story of Alexander Hamilton, an immigrant from the West Indies who became George Washington's right-hand man during the Revolutionary War, and was the new nation's first treasury secretary. The production began performances at Broadway's Richard Rodgers Theatre on August 6, 2015.

The current cast of Hamilton features Javier Muñoz in the title role, Brandon Victor Dixon as Aaron Burr, Mandy Gonzalez as Angelica Schuyler, Bryan Terrell Clark as George Washington, Lexi Lawson as Eliza Hamilton, J. Quinton Johnson as Hercules Mulligan and James Madison, Anthony Lee Medina as John Laurens and Philip Hamilton, and James Monroe Iglehart as Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson.
