Flashback Friday: Sara Bareilles and Jessie Mueller Share the Stage at the 2016 Tonys

As Bareilles begins her Broadway turn as Jenna in ”Waitress”, watch the performance that foreshadowed her debut.

An important regime change is happening tonight over at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre. Tony winner Jessie Mueller, who played her final performance as Jenna in Waitress on March 26, officially passes the apron over to the show's Tony-nominated composer Sara Bareilles for her Broadway acting debut. Bareilles jumps into the lead role for 10 weeks, opposite Chris Diamantopoulos (Dr. Pomatter) and Will Swenson (Earl), who also begin their runs in the show tonight.

To commemorate the passing of the pie, we're flashing back to Waitress' 2016 Tony Awards performance, where Mueller and Bareilles shared Jenna's signature song, "She Used to Be Mine." It's a short sample of what audiences will get to see on Broadway through June 11 — only now, Bareilles will be stepping out from behind the piano.
