Flashback Friday: Chicago's Kandi Burruss Was "Just Kickin' It" in the '90s

See if you remember this Xscape music video, featuring Broadway’s latest countess of the clink.

Earlier this week, the long-running Kander and Ebb musical Chicago welcomed Kandi Burruss to the cast for her Broadway debut as Matron "Mama" Morton. She may be drawing crowds for her Real Housewives of Atlanta notoriety, but her true fans have been by her side since the early '90s when she became one-fourth of the all-female R&B quartet Xscape.

Their debut album, Hummin' Comin' at 'Cha, dropped in 1993 and went platinum in 1994, in large part due to the popularity of their first hit single "Just Kickin' It." The music video is essentially a '90s time machine with synchronized choreography and oversize vests that almost match but give each one of the girls their own tinge of personality. So whether you're new to Xscape or they're prominently featured on your throwback playlist, we're looking back at Kandi's first claim to fame — which we can now see as her first step toward Broadway.
