Stranger Things' Gaten Matarazzo Shows His Broadway Chops Singing "Bring Him Home"

He might be a TV star now, but Broadway found him first.

As the world falls into madness over the addictive new Netflix series Stranger Things — more specifically, the lovably foul-mouthed 13-year-old Dustin played by Gaten Matarazzo — Broadway can't help but boast: We knew him first.

Matarazzo made his Broadway debut in the 2011 cast of Priscilla Queen of the Desert, but you may remember him better as one of the earliest Gavroches in the current revival of Les Misérables. TheaterMania spent a day with the young actor backstage at the Imperial Theatre during his run with the show in 2014 where he told us all about life as a Miz Kid and his dream to one day play the Phantom in The Phantom of the Opera.

He might not be ready for that part yet, but judging by this rendition of "Bring Him Home," he seems all set to take over as Jean Valjean. Maybe for the next revival of Les Mis…if television doesn't steal him away for good.
