Groundhog Day Celebrates 100 Performances

Broadway's Groundhog Day celebrated 100 performances at the August Wilson Theatre last night, July 12. In honor of the occasion, stars Andy Karl, Barrett Doss, and the rest of the company received a special cake baked by fan Dina Jawetz.

Based on the 1993 film, Groundhog Day features a score by Matilda the Musical composer Tim Minchin and direction by Matilda's Matthew Warchus, with original screenwriter Danny Rubin providing the book. The story follows disgruntled weatherman Phil Connors (Karl), who finds himself stuck in small-town America reliving the same day over and over and over again.

Doss stars opposite Karl as TV producer Rita Hanson, alongside an ensemble that includes Rebecca Faulkenberry, John Sanders, Andrew Call, Raymond J. Lee, Heather Ayers, Kevin Bernard, Gerard Canonico, Rheaume Crenshaw, Michael Fatica, Katy Geraghty, Camden Gonzales, Jordan Grubb, Taylor Iman Jones, Tari Kelly, Josh Lamon, Joseph Medeiros, Sean Montgomery, William Parry, Jenna Rubaii, Vishal Vaidya, Travis Waldschmidt, and Natalie Wisdom.
