The new Broadway-bound musical Groundhog Day has announced complete casting for its upcoming mounting at the August Wilson Theatre.

As previously announced, the cast will be led by two-time Tony nominee Andy Karl as weatherman Phil Connors — the role he originated when the show opened earlier this year at the Old Vic Theatre in London. Newcomer Barrett Doss (Burning at the New Group) will star opposite Karl as Rita Hanson.

The ensemble will feature Rebecca Faulkenberry (Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark), John Sanders (Matilda), Andrew Call (Grease Live), Raymond J. Lee (Honeymoon in Vegas), Heather Ayers (Young Frankenstein), Kevin Bernard (Billy Elliot), Gerard Canonico (Spring Awakening), Rheaume Crenshaw (Amazing Grace), Michael Fatica (She Loves Me), Katy Geraghty (Shrek), Camden Gonzales (Matilda), Jordan Grubb (Mary Poppins), Taylor Iman Jones (American Idiot), Tari Kelly (Something Rotten!), Josh Lamon (Finding Neverland), Joseph Medeiros (Matilda), Sean Montgomery (Matilda), William Parry (Sunday in the Park With George), Jenna Rubaii (American Idiot), Vishal Vaidya (1776 at Encores!), Travis Waldschmidt (Matilda), and Natalie Wisdom (Billy Elliot).

Groundhog Day is inspired by the 1993 film that tells the story of Pittsburgh weatherman Phil Connors, who finds himself caught in a time loop that forces him to repeat the same day, Groundhog Day, over and over. It features a score by Matilda The Musical composer Tim Minchin, and is directed by Matlida's Matthew Warchus, with original screen writer Danny Rubin providing the book.

The creative team also includes Matilda veterans choreographer Peter Darling, co-choreographer Ellen Kane, set and costume designer Rob Howell, orchestrator and musical supervisor Christopher Nightingale, lighting designer Hugh Vanstone, and sound designer Simon Baker. Rounding out the creative team are Paul Kieve (illusions), Finn Caldwell (additional movement), Andrzej Goulding (video designer), Campbell Young Associates (hair and wig design), and Jim Carnahan (casting).

Groundhog Day begins previews Thursday, March 16, 2017, and opens Monday, April 17, at the August Wilson Theatre.
