Broadway's Waitress will welcome Joe Cassidy to the company as diner chef Cal for a run beginning this January. His engagement will continue through February 12. The role was originated by Eric Anderson, who will return to the production February 14.

Cassidy's Broadway credits include If/Then, Catch Me If You Can, Next to Normal, and Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, among other shows.

Inspired by Adrienne Shelley's 2007 motion picture, Waitress marks the Broadway debut of Grammy-nominated songwriter Sarah Bareilles, who composed the show's score, and noted screenwriter and director Jessie Nelson, who penned the book. It opened April 24 at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre.

The company is currently headed by Jessie Mueller, alongside Anderson, Charity Angél Dawson (Becky), Tony Award nominee Christopher Fitzgerald (Ogie), Drew Gehling (Dr. Pomatter), Caitlin Houlahan (Dawn), Dakin Matthews (Joe), William Popp (Earl), Cate Elefante, Thay Floyd, Henry Gottfried, Molly Hager, Aisha Jackson, Molly Jobe, Max Kumangai, Anastacia McClesky, Ella Dane Morgan, Jeremy Morse, Olivia Phillip, Stephanie Torns, and Ryan Vasquez.

Waitress premiered in 2015 at American Repertory Theater in Boston. The musical is directed by Diane Paulus, choreographed by Lorin Latarro, and designed by Scott Pask (sets), Suttirat Larlarb (costumes), Christopher Akerlind (lighting), and Jonathan Deans (sound).
