Acclaimed playwright Jonathan Tolins will write the 2017 Drama Desk Awards show. Tolins is the author of Buyer & Cellar, The Twilight of the Golds, and The Last Sunday in June.

"Bill Rosenfield is unable to be in New York at this time due to personal and professional commitments at his home in London following the West End success of his play 46 Beacon," said Gretchen Shugart, the managing executive producer of the Drama Desk Awards, in a statement. "We will miss Bill very much but are fortunate that Jonathan Tolins is able to write the show this year."

Nominations for the 62nd Annual Drama Desk Awards were announced at 10am on April 27 by Laura Benanti (She Loves Me) and Javier Muñoz (Hamilton).

Michael Urie (Buyer and Cellar), a past host and two-time Drama Desk Award winner himself, will return to emcee the event, which is set to take place on Sunday, June 4, at Town Hall. For the sixth consecutive year, TheaterMania will present the ceremony.

The Drama Desk Awards are an annual celebration of the best of Broadway, off-Broadway, and off-off-Broadway talent. Each year, the Drama Desk's voters select winners from the pool of artists nominated in each of its 30 categories. Joey Parnes Productions will produce and manage the show, which is directed by Mark Waldrop.
