Universal Theatrical Group announced that it is developing a new musical comedy adaptation of Death Becomes Her, the 1992 horror comedy directed by Robert Zemeckis and written by Martin Donovan and David Koepp, starring Kristen Chenoweth.

Death Becomes Her is the tale of a romantic rivalry between two women that escalates after they both drink a magic potion that promises eternal youth. Chenoweth would play Madeline, the role Meryl Streep originated in the film, which also starred Goldie Hawn and Bruce Willis.

Further details will be announced at a later date. Universal Theatrical Group is the live theater division of Universal Studios, which distributed the original film.
