Hamilton's New Angelica, Mandy Gonzalez, Sets Start Date

Gonzalez will take over the role from Tony winner Renée Elise Goldsberry.

Mandy Gonzalez, who was previously announced as the replacement for Tony winner Renée Elise Goldsberry in Broadway's Hamilton, will step into the role of Angelica Schuyler on September 6. Goldsberry will play her final performance on September 3, it has also been announced.

Gonzalez originated the role of Nina Rosario in Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda's Tony-winning musical In the Heights. She has also starred as Elphaba in the Broadway production of Wicked, among many other credits. Most recently, Gonzalez has been seen on television shows including Madam Secretary and Quantico.

Goldsberry is currently shooting the title role in the film The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks for HBO and will soon take on a regular role in the new Netflix series Altered Carbon.

Directed by Thomas Kail and inspired by Ron Chernow's biography Alexander Hamilton, Hamilton explores the life of the American founding father and first Secretary of the Treasury, as well as his experiences as an orphan of the British West Indies who immigrated to the 13 Colonies and helped shape the United States of America.

The show, which had its world premiere at the Public Theater, features a book and score by Tony winner Miranda, with music direction and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire, choreography by Andy Blankenbuehler, scenic design by David Korins, costume design by Paul Tazewell, lighting design by Howell Binkley, and sound design by Nevin Steinberg.
