Samantha Barks and Steve Kazee to Star in New Broadway-Bound Musical Pretty Woman

The production will premiere this spring in Chicago.

Samantha Barks (Les Misérables) and Tony winner Steve Kazee (Once) will star in the world premiere of the new musical Pretty Woman this spring. Directed and choreographed by Jerry Mitchell, the production will begin performances Tuesday, March 13, for a five-week engagement at Chicago's Oriental Theatre.

With an original score by Grammy winner Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance, the musical features a book by Garry Marshall and the film’s screenwriter J.F. Lawton. The production will feature scenic design by David Rockwell, costume design by Gregg Barnes, lighting design by Kenneth Posner and Philip S. Rosenberg, sound design by John Shivers, hair design by Josh Marquette, and music supervision, arrangements, and orchestrations by Will Van Dyke.

Barks and Kazee will take on the roles of Vivian and Edward, originated on-screen by Julia Roberts and Richard Gere. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.

Following its run in Chicago, Pretty Woman: The Musical will open on Broadway in fall 2018 at a Nederlander theater to be announced. Paula Wagner, Nice Productions, LPO, New Regency Productions, Roy Furman, James L. Nederlander, Caiola Productions, Hunter Arnold, Stage Entertainment, and the John Gore Organization serve as producers.
