Prince of Broadway Will Now Play Through October 29

The Broadway production looks back at the shows that earned Harold Prince a record 21 Tony Awards.

The Broadway premiere of Prince of Broadway, a musical celebration that highlights the extraordinary six-decade career of director and producer Harold Prince, will now play through October 29 at MTC's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre. The limited engagement, which began previews August 3 and opened August 24, is produced by Manhattan Theatre Club.

Prince of Broadway includes songs and scenes from many of the shows that earned its namesake a record 21 Tony Awards. The show features a book by two-time Tony nominee David Thompson (The Scottsboro Boys); new songs, arrangements, orchestrations, and music supervision by three-time Tony winner Jason Robert Brown (The Bridges of Madison County); codirection and choreography by five-time Tony winner Susan Stroman (The Producers); and direction by Prince himself.

The cast features Tony Award winner Chuck Cooper (Caroline, or Change), Drama Desk Award winner Janet Dacal (In the Heights), Bryonha Marie Parham (After Midnight), Tony Award nominee Emily Skinner (Side Show), two-time Tony Award nominee Brandon Uranowitz (Falsettos), Kaley Ann Voorhees (The Phantom of the Opera), two-time Olivier Award nominee Michael Xavier (Sunset Boulevard), Tony Award nominee Tony Yazbeck (On the Town), and Tony Award winner Karen Ziemba (Contact).

The creative team includes Beowulf Boritt (scenic and projection design), William Ivey Long (costume design), Howell Binkley (lighting design), Jon Weston (sound design), Paul Huntley (wig design), Angelina Avallone (makeup design), and Fred Lassen (music direction).
