Beginning August 1, Michael Campayno will assume the role of Fiyero in the cast of Wicked, making his Broadway debut with the production. He takes over for Jonah Platt, who plays his final performance at the Gershwin Theatre July 30. As previously announced, Jennifer DiNoia also joins the company August 1, taking on the lead role of Elphaba after Rachel Tucker departs the cast July 30 as well.

A Pittsburgh native and recent graduate of Carnegie Mellon School of Drama, Campayno made his television debut in 2013 as Rolf NBC's live telecast of The Sound of Music, starring Carrie Underwood. His voice can be heard on the production's cast recording.

Campayno joins a cast that also includes Carrie St. Louis as Glinda, Judy Kaye as Madame Morrible, Peter Scolari as The Wizard, Dawn E. Cantwell as Nessarose, Michael Genet as Dr. Dillamond, and Zachary Noah Piser as Boq.

Based on the novel of the same name by Gregory Maguire, Wicked is set in the land of Oz and tells the story of young girls Glinda and Elphaba, who grow up to become Glinda the Good Witch and the Wicked Witch of the West, respectively.

Featuring music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman, the production is directed by Joe Mantello with musical staging by Wayne Cilento. The show opened October 30, 2003, making it currently the 10th-longest-running production in Broadway history.
