The upcoming Broadway transfer of New York City Center's recent production of Sunday in the Park With George, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, has released a statement regarding awards eligibility. According to producers, the show "stands most appropriately outside of any awards competition" due in part to its "extremely limited" run and will not be submitted for awards eligibility.

The full statement is as follows: "The producers of Sunday in the Park with George will not be submitting Hudson Theatre's engagement of this New York City Center production for awards eligibility. With a season so full of tremendous, soon-to-be-long-running new musicals and revivals, the producers feel this extremely limited, special run of Sunday stands most appropriately outside of any awards competition. The production is nevertheless proud to be part of such a landmark Broadway season."

With Oscar nominee Gyllenhaal as Georges Seurat and Tony winner Annaleigh Ashford as Dot, Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Pulitzer Prize-winning musical will reopen the historic Hudson Theatre. The production will have a 10-week run, beginning February 11. Opening night is set for February 23, with the run scheduled to conclude April 23. Sarna Lapine directs.

The cast will also feature Tony Award nominee Brooks Ashmanskas (Mr./Charles), Jenni Barber (Celeste #2/Elaine), Tony Award nominee Phillip Boykin (Boatman/Lee), Mattea Marie Conforti (Louise), Erin Davie (Yvonne/Naomi), Claybourne Elder (Soldier/Alex), Tony Award nominee Penny Fuller (Old Lady/Blair), Jordan Gelber (Louis/Billy), Tony Award winner Robert Sean Leonard (Jules/Bob), Liz McCartney (Mrs./Harriet), Tony Award winner Ruthie Ann Miles (Frieda/Betty), Ashley Park (Celeste #1/Waitress), Jennifer Sanchez (Nurse), David Turner (Franz/Dennis), Max Chernin, MaryAnn Hu, Tony Award nominee Michael McElroy, Jaime Rosenstein, Julie Foldesi, and Andrew Kober.

The production features set design by Beowulf Boritt, projection design by Tal Yarden, costume design by Clint Ramos, lighting design by Ken Billington, sound design by TKai Harada, co-projection design by Christopher Ash, hair and wig design by Cookie Jordan, make-up design by Joe Dulude II, music coordination by Seymour Red Press, orchestrations by Michael Starobin, production supervision by Peter Lawrence, musical staging by Ann Yee, and music direction by Chris Fenwick.
