Lin-Manuel Miranda Sits Down for Discussion With John Kander

The composer of ”Hamilton” shared a chat with the ”Visit” scribe on May 20.

Tony-winning Broadway songwriters John Kander and Lin-Manuel Miranda sat down for a candid conversation following the Wednesday, May 20 evening performance of Kander's musical The Visit at the Lyceum Theatre. The talkback discussed that show, as well as Miranda's acclaimed Hamilton, which makes its Broadway debut this summer at the Richard Rodgers Theatre.

In The Visit, which features a score by Kander and Fred Ebb, and a book by Terrence McNally, Tony winner John Doyle directs a cast led by Tony winners Chita Rivera and Roger Rees, along with Jason Danieley, Matthew Deming, Diana Dimarzio, David Garrison, Rick Holmes, Tom Nelis, Chris Newcomer, Aaron Ramey, Timothy Shew, Michelle Veintimilla, George Abud, Mary Beth Peil, Elena Shaddow, and John Riddle.

Hamilton, featuring book and score by Miranda and direction by Thomas Kail, begins performances at the Rodgers on July 13, with opening night set for August 6. Inspired by a biography by Ron Chernow, the bio-musical about the life of American Founding Father Alexander Hamilton, comes to Broadway following an acclaimed, Drama Desk Award-nominated run at the Public Theater.
