Interrobang Presents Midwest Premiere of The North Pool

The North Pool begins this evening at Athenaeum Theatre.
The show follows Khadim, a student at Sheffield High School. When he is unexpectedly called into the office of Vice Principal Danielson, a minor infraction somehow lands him in detention. The administrator is cagey, but it doesn’t take long for tensions to mount as he questions Khadim about a crime that the student may or may not have committed. As the semester comes to a close, the game of cat and mouse intensifies, bringing about unexpected revelations. Amid all this, the show takes a frank look at the complexities of racial and cultural profiling and personal accountability.
Co-artistic director James Yost helms the project, which was written by Rajiv Joseph. The cast features Salar Ardebili as Khadim and Rob Frankel as Dr. Danielson.
"The North Pool is about the power of guilt," said Yost. "The two characters who carry this story are fraught with guilt and the heaviness of responsibility, as they discover that the one thing that connects them is the suicide of another student they both knew in very different ways."
The creative team includes Greg Pinsolneault (set design), Noel Huntzinger (costume design), Rob Stepeck (lighting design), Mealah (properties design), and Albert "Beep" Trefts (stage manager).
Performances will run through June 26.
