Santino Fontana will star in the world premiere of the new musical Tootsie, inspired by the 1982 Columbia Pictures film of the same title. The musical will play Broadway in Chicago's Cadillac Palace, running September 11-October 14, 2018. A Broadway berth is planned for spring 2019.

Tootsie will be directed by Scott Ellis and will feature a score by David Yazbek, a book by Robert Horn, choreography by Denis Jones. The creative team will include David Rockwell (sets), William Ivey Long (costumes), Donald Holder (lights), and Brian Ronan (sound). Scott Sanders Productions is the lead producer.

Fontana will play Michael Dorsey, an actor who disguises himself as a woman in order to win a role on a sitcom. The Sydney Pollack film was written by Larry Gelbart and Murray Schisgal, with uncredited contributions by Barry Levinson and Elaine May.

Full casting will be announced at a later date.
