Plays by Danai Gurira, Tarell Alvin McCraney, and More on Tap for Steppenwolf

The Chicago theater company has revealed its 2018-19 season.

Chicago's Steppenwolf Theatre has announced its 2018-19 lineup.

The season is as follows:

September 20-November 4: The world premiere of Downstate by ensemble member Bruce Norris. Directed by Pam MacKinnon, the production will feature ensemble members K. Todd Freeman, Francis Guinan, and Tim Hopper. Following the Steppenwolf run, the production will transfer to London's National Theatre in spring 2019, featuring a mixed cast and creative team of American and British artists.

November 15-January 6, 2019: The Chicago premiere of Familiar by Danai Gurira, featuring ensemble members Celeste M. Cooper and Ora Jones.

December 13-January 27, 2019: The world premiere of Isaac Gomez's La Ruta, directed by ensemble member Sandra Marquez.

January 31, 2019-March 17, 2019: The Chicago premiere of Lucas Hnath's A Doll's House, Part 2, featuring ensemble members Celeste M. Cooper, Sandra Marquez, and Yasen Peyankov.

April 18, 2019-June 9, 2019: The Chicago premiere of Lucy Kirkwood's The Children, featuring Ora Jones and Yasen Peyankov under the direction of Jonathan Berry.

Mary 23, 2019-July 7, 2019: Ensemble members and longtime collaborators Tarell Alvin McCraney and Tina Landau will reunite for a new production of McCraney's Wig Out!, featuring McCraney in the production, as well as fellow ensemble member Glenn Davis.

July 5, 2019-August 18, 2019: Sam Shepard's True West, featuring ensemble members Jon Michael Hill and Namir Smallwood.
