Hal Holbrook, who is starring as the Stage Manager in Hartford Stage’s production of Our Town, directed by Gregory Boyd, will be out of the show the week of September 17. He will be replaced by understudy Robert Hannon Davis, who usually portrays the part of Constable Warren. Holbrook is anticipated to return to the role the week of September 24.

In a statement, Managing Director Michael Stotts said, “On Friday, September 14, Mr. Holbrook had very low energy and was taken to a doctor, who identified that he has developed a virus as a result of exhaustion. Mr. Holbrook has been confined to bed rest, and is under a doctor’s care.”

The cast of Our Town also includes Ross Bickell (Dr. Gibbs), Charlotte Booker (Mrs. Soames), Ginna Carter (Emily Webb), Frank Converse (Mr. Webb), Erin Courtney (Rebecca Gibbs), Jordan Cyr (Wally Webb), Josie DeGuzman (Mrs. Gibbs), Annalee Jeffries (Mrs. Webb), Bill Kuk (Howie Newsome), Nafe Katter (Professor Willard/Joe Stoddard), Tom Libonate (Sam Craig), Jake Lombardi (Joe Crowell/Si Crowell), Rob Pawlikowski (Constable Warren), Donovan Patton (George Gibbs), Andrew Shipman (Wally Webb), and Noble Shropshire (Simon Stimson).

Davis’ numerous credits at Hartford Stage include Reverend Tooker in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof and several seasons as Bob Cratchit in A Christmas Carol.

There is limited ticket availability through the end of the show’s run through October 7, but Hartford Stage will attempt to accommodate ticket exchanges. For more information, visit www.hartfordstage.org.
