Oklahoma! begins performances tonight at Goodspeed Musicals – East Haddam.

Richard Rodgers (music) and Oscar Hammerstein II's (book and lyrics) musical is described as follows: "Cowboy Curly and farm girl Laurey are taking their sweet time falling in love. Can these stubborn romantics admit their feelings before it’s too late? Passion, laughter and high-kicking choreography blossom in a land where the wind comes sweepin’ down the plain. A legendary score — including 'Oh, What a Beautiful Mornin',' 'The Surrey With the Fringe on Top,' and the rousing title tune — will put you in a brand-new state!"

Jenn Thompson directs the cast of Rhett Guter (Curly), Samantha Bruce (Laurey), Terry Burrell (Aunt Eller), Jake Swain (Will Parker), Gizel Jimenez (Ado Annie), C. Mingo Long (Andrew Carnes), Matthew Curiano (Ali Hakim), and Matt Faucher (Jud Fry). The ensemble includes Kelly Berman, Morgan Cowling, Lauren Csete, Mark Deler, Tamrin Goldberg, Tripp Hampton, Olivia Nicole Hoffman, Kate Arrington Johnson (Gertie), Howard Kaye (Ike), Morgan McCann (Cord), Andrew Ryan Purcell, Alex Ringler, Marco Antonio Santiago, Alex Stewart, and Madison Turner. Rebecca Brudner and Aaron Patrick Craven are the show's swings.

The creative team for Oklahoma includes Wilson Chin (scenic design), Tracy Christensen (costume design), Philip Rosenberg (lighting design), Jay Hilton (sound design), and Mark Adam Rampmeyer (wig and hair design). Michael O'Flaherty is the music director with orchestrations by Dan DeLange and choreography by Katie Spelman.

Performances continue through September 23.
