Samantha Massell to Star in Newly Revised Edition of Rags

Charles Strouse and Stephen Schwartz have teamed up with David Thompson for this new production.

Fiddler on the Roof vet Samantha Massell will head the cast of a newly revised edition of the musical Rags. The production will run October 6-December 10 at the Goodspeed Opera House.

Rags, which played 18 performances on Broadway in 1986, features a score by Charles Strouse and Stephen Schwartz and a book by Joseph Stein. For this production, which Rob Ruggiero directs, Strouse and Schwartz have teamed up with David Thompson, who has adapted Stein's original script.

Massell will take on the role of Rebecca, with Christian Michael Camporin as David, Sean MacLaughlin as Sal, Sara Kapner as Bella, Adam Heller as Avram, Mitch Greenberg as Jack, Emily Zacharias as Anna, Lori Wilner as Rachel, David Harris as Max, Nathan Salstone as Ben, J.D. Daw, Ellie Fishman, Danny Lindgren, Sarah Solie, Jeff Williams, Catalina Gaglioti, Giovanni DiGabriele, and Gordon Beck.

The production will have choreography by Parker Esse, with a creative team that also includes Michael Schweikardt (scenic design), Linda Cho (costumes), John Lasiter (lighting), Jay Hilton (sound), Mark Adam Rampmeyer (wig and hair design), Dan DeLange (orchestrations), David Loud (vocal arrangements), and Michael O’Flaherty (musical director).
