Duncan Sheik and Suzanne Vega's Lover, Beloved to Play Alley Theatre

Duncan Sheik and Suzanne Vega's Lover, Beloved: An Evening With Carson McCullers will have its world premiere as part of the Alley Theatre's season in Houston, Texas. The play with music will open the newly restored Neuhaus Theatre on February 9 and run through March 11

Lover, Beloved pays homage to renowned Southern writer Carson McCullers (The Heart is a Lonely Hunter and The Member of the Wedding) as it tells the story of how this outspoken, perceptive, and wild dreamer who became one of the brightest literary lights of the 20th century.

Vega appears as Carson McCullers, with Jackson Gay directing. The production has music direction and arrangements by Jason Hart, scenic design by Takeshi Kata, costume design by Jessica Ford, lighting designer by Paul Whitaker, and sound design by Broken Chord.
