Theatre at the Center presents A Christmas Story, which begins tonight, as the finale to their 25th anniversary season.

Based on the award-winning film, the show takes place in Northwest Indiana in the 1940s. All bespectacled 9-year-old Ralphie Parker wants for Christmas is a Red Ryder BB Gun. His dream gift is denied to him on the basis that he’ll "shoot his eye out," but, despite this criticism, Ralphie is determined to pursue what he wants. What ensues is a hint-dropping, Santa-begging campaign full of calamities and humor as Ralphie refuses to be deterred from getting his Christmas morning prize. The iconic show is a glimpse into middle-class American life and the elusive magic of Christmas.

Written by Phil Grecian and directed by Linda Fortunato, A Christmas Story features Nate Becker as Ralphie, Rod Thomas as Ralph, John Lister as Old Man, Susan Gosdick as Miss Shields, Linda Gillum as Mother, Hannah Clare Horner as Esther Jane, Ellie Evens as Helen, AJ Andersen as Farkas, Charlie Iverson as Flick, Nolan Moss as Randy, and Rowan Moxley as Schwartz.

The creative team includes Jack Magaw (set design), Brenda Winstead (costume design), Shelley Strasser-Holland (lighting design), Barry G. Funderburg (sound design), Brittney O’Keefe (props design), Kevin Barthel (wig design), and Matt McMullen (stage manager).

Performances will run through December 27.
