Claudia Shear to Star in West End Chicago

Claudia Shear will play Mama Morton in the West End production of the John Kander-Fred Ebb musical Chicago, March 31-May 25 at the Cambridge Theatre.

Shear received Tony Award nominations for writing and starring in the Broadway play Dirty Blonde. She also appeared on Broadway in Smell of the Kill and wrote the Off-Broadway play Blown Sideways Through Life.

Chicago currently stars Birgitte Hjort Sorensen as Roxie Hart, Rachel McDowall as Velma Kelly, Terence Maynard as Billy Flynn, and Paul Rider as Amos Hart. The show is directed by Walter Bobbie and choreographed by Ann Reinking, in the style of Bob Fosse. The London production of Chicago opened on November 18, 1997 at the Adelphi Theatre and transferred to the Cambridge in April 2006.
