Tricycle Announces Full Cast for Red Velvet, Starring Adrian Lester

Full casting has been announced for Tricycle Theatre‘s production of Red Velvet, written by Lolita Chakrabarti, and directed by Indhu Rubasingham. The production will perform October 11-November 24, opening on October 16.

Set in 1833, the play examines what happens when Edmund Kean, the greatest actor of his generation, collapses on stage whilst playing Othello, and a young black American actor is asked to take over the role.

As previously reported, Adrian Lester will star in the play which is based on the true story of Ira Aldridge. The cast will also include Simon Chandler (Bernard/Terence), Rachel Finnegan (Halina/Betty/Margaret), Natasha Gordon (Connie), Ryan Kiggell (Charles), Ferdinand Kingsley (Casmir/Henry), Charlotte Lucas (Ellen), and Eugene O’Hare (Pierre).

The production will be designed by Tom Piper, with lighting by Oliver Fenwick and sound by Paul Arditti.
