Theater veterans Gemma Arterton and Andrew Garfield are among the nominees for BAFTA’s 2011 Rising Star Award, according to published reports. Also nominated are Tom Hardy, Aaron Johnson, and Emma Stone. Winners will be announced on February 13 at London’s Royal Opera House.
Arterton recently concluded a run in the Almeida Theatre’s production of Henrik Ibsen’s The Master Builder in London, and also appeared last year in the West End production of The Little Dog Laughed. She is best known for her film roles, including the James Bond film Quantum of Solace, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and Clash of the Titans.
Garfield’s stage credits include Beautiful Thing and The Overwhelming. Film credits include The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus and The Social Network, and he has been tapped to become the next Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the film franchise reboot.
