Randal Miles, Meg Wallace, Helen Wilson Set for Carson McCullers’ The Square Root of Wonderful

Collaborative Artists Ensemble is presenting a hidden gem from Carson McCullers’ The Square Root of Wonderful, beginning April 27 at the Raven Playhouse. Steve Jarrard will direct.

In the play, Mollie, a woman twice-divorced from the same man raises her teenage son on an apple farm not far from New York City. An architect, John, to whom she rents a barn has fallen for her immediately. She does not find his attraction to her unwelcome. But her abusive ex-husband Phillip, released from a sanitorium following a suicide attempt, attempts to move back in. She still harbors an erotic attraction to him, which can only drive a wedge between her and John. Mollie faces a romantic dilemma. The Square Root of Wonderful is one of only two plays written by McCullers.

The cast will include Andreas Beckett, Sean Eaton (Paris Lovejoy), Randal Miles (John Tucker), Isabel Rogers (Hattie Brown), Meg Wallace (Mollie), Helen Wilson (Mother Lovejoy) and Patricia Wylie (Loreena Lovejoy).
