The Pasadena Playhouse has announced the first four staged reading of its
Hothouse at the Playhouse series.

The series will begin with the world premiere reading of Lee Blessing’s A View of the Mountains (October 30 and 31 at 8 pm) starring Betsy Brandt, John Getz, Jane Kaczmarek, Josey Montana McCoy, and Chris McGarry, and directed by Brian Shnipper. The play tells of a prominent family that is split down the middle in America’s political dogfight.

Up next, Oscar nominee Marsha Mason will headline Ellen Simon’s Aunt Stossie’s Coming for Five Days (January 8 and 9 at 8 pm), a comedic drama involving three generations of women and two surfer boys in a California beach town, which will be directed by Jon Mascone.

The series continues as Michael Arabian will direct an as yet unnamed new work supported by the Armenian Dramatic Arts Alliance (February 12 and 13 at 8 pm).

The final production is Dear Galileo by Claire Willett, which will be directed by Courtney Harper and star Matthew Lillard and Danielle Soibelman. The piece is the story of three women who wrestle with their identity and the conflict between science and religion.
