Lin-Manuel Miranda, Benj Pasek, and Justin Paul Receive Golden Globe Nominations

Nominees for the annual awards have been announced.

Veteran Broadway songwriters Lin-Manuel Miranda and Benj Pasek and Justin Paul are newly minted Golden Globe Award nominees. All three were nominated in the Best Original Song for a Motion Picture Category; Hamilton scribe Miranda for "How Far I'll Go" from Moana, and Dear Evan Hansen writers Pasek and Paul, alongside collaborator Justin Hurwitz, for "City of Stars" from La La Land.

The list of nominees also includes a host of other theatrical personalities, including Tony winners Denzel Washington and Viola Davis for the film version of August Wilson's Fences; This Is Our Youth playwright-director Kenneth Lonergan for his film Manchester by the Sea; Liev Schreiber (Les Liaisons Dangereuses) for the television series Ray Donovan; and Sarah Paulson for The People v. O.J. Simpson, among them.

The movie-musical La La Land racked up a grand total of seven nominations, including nods for stars Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone. Manchester by the Sea received five.
