Born for This Begins Performances at the Broad Stage

Born for This began performances last night at The Broad Stage.

In Born for This, Detroit teenagers BeBe and CeCe Winans experience the ultimate in culture shock when invited to join Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker's Praise The Lord Network in Pineville, North Carolina. Jim and Tammy become an unlikely surrogate family as the two teenagers rapidly become the hottest stars in televangical America. Eventually crossing over to mainstream fame, Bebe must learn to reconcile the temptations of fame and fortune with the things he ultimately values more.

Charles Randolph-Wright directs the cast led by Juan Winans (BeBe) and Deborah Joy Winans (CeCe). Also featured in the cast are Chaz Pofahl (Jim Bakker), Kirsten Wyatt (Tammy Faye Bakker), Kiandra Richardson (Whitney Houston), and Nita Whitaker (Mom Winans), Milton Craig Nealy (Pop Winans), Dyllon Burnside (Michael Winans, Howard), Desmond Sean Ellington (Carvin Winans, Alvin), Brad Raymond (Ronald Winans), and Michael Stiggers (Marvin Winans).

The creative team includes Neil Patel (set design), William Ivey Long (costume design), Jason Lyons (lighting design), John Shivers (sound design), and John Narun (projection design). Choreagraphy is by Warren Adams with music supervision from Donald Lawrence and music direction by Jaret Landon.
