Chrissy Metz, the Emmy Award-winning and Golden Globe-nominated star of the NBC drama This Is Us, will make her theater debut in a new production of Neil LaBute's Fat Pig, running May 16-June 24, 2018, at the Geffen Playhouse, with opening night set for May 23.

This won't be Metz's first encounter with LaBute's play; she appeared in MCC Theater's one-night-only benefit reading of it at the Lucille Lortel Theatre back in March. The production at Geffen will mark the premiere of a revised version of the play, including a new ending. Jo Bonney, who helmed the off-Broadway production in 2004 and the Geffen's 2007 West Coast debut, will direct once again. Additional casting will be announced later.

Fat Pig will replace LaBute's The Way We Get By as the final show in the Geffen's Audrey Skirball Kenis Theater for the 2017-18 season.

The play is described as follows: "Cow. Slob. Pig. How many insults can you hear before you stand up and defend the woman you love? Tom faces just that question when he falls for Helen, a bright, funny, sexy young woman who also happens to be plus-sized."
