Broadway Designer Derek McLane Joins Production Team for 90th Academy Awards

This will be McLane’s sixth consecutive year designing Hollywood’s most anticipated event.

Tony Award winner Derek McLane has been announced as part of the production team for the 90th Annual Academy Awards, joining as production designer for his sixth consecutive year.

McLane has earned Primetime Emmy nominations for every year that he has worked on the Oscars telecasts and won the award in 2014. His other television credits include Hairspray Live!, The Wiz Live!, Peter Pan Live!, and The Sound of Music Live! McLane earned a Tony Award in 2009 for his scenic design for 33 Variations, and has designed nearly 40 additional Broadway shows.

He is currently represented on Broadway by The Parisian Woman and Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, and will design the upcoming productions of Children of a Lesser God and Gettin' the Band Back Together. He is also working on the Broadway-bound stage adaptation of Moulin Rouge, making its world premiere in Boston this summer.

The 2018 Academy Awards will be held on Sunday March 4. Hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, the ceremony will air live from the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center on ABC.
