Echo Theater's production of Dry Land begins performances tonight at the Kirk Douglas Theatre as part of the theater's Block Party program.

Ruby Rae Spiegel's play is described as "a haunting play about female friendship and an abortion that takes place in the locker room of a central Florida high school." Alana Dietze directs the production.

The cast features Daniel Hagen, Ben Horwitz, Connor Kelly-Eiding, Teagan Rose, Jenny Soo, Jacqueline Besson, Alexandra Freeman, Francesca O’Hern, Bukola Ogunmola, Sidne Phillips, and Tessa Hope Slovis.

The creative team includes Amanda Knehans (scenic design), Elena Flores (costume design), Justin Huen (lighting design), and Jeff Gardner (sound design). Anna Engelsman is the production stage manager.

Block Party highlights work of smaller, more intimate theaters throughout Los Angeles by fully producing previously staged productions. The productions receive the full support of Center Theatre Group and its staff in order to fund, stage, and market each production.

Performances continue through May 21.
