NBC's 2016 presentation of Hairspray Live! took home multiple Creative Arts Emmy Awards, presented September 9 and 10 in Hollywood.

Hairspray Live! received trophies in the categories of hairstyling, technical direction and camerawork, and production design, with veteran Broadway scenic designer Derek McLane among the recipients.

The 2016 Tony Awards, hosted by James Corden, was honored with the award for Outstanding Special Class Program.
